The range of lights
LID’s lights differ from those of competitors by their sleek lines, the quality of materials used and their high light output.
We have drawn on all our skill to create these lights that combine technical expertise with design.
We choose to use flexible steel goose necks for our lights as they are resistant and silent, they do not weaken, they do not need to be adjusted, and their PVC sheath allows easy cleaning and so high levels of hygiene can be maintained. The majority of our lights are equipped with swivel joints between the neck and the lamp head, allowing 360° of rotation (with a stopper) and up to 90° of tilt, allowing the light to be positioned precisely.
Very high quality plastics are used (PA6, with mineral filler and 30% of glass fiber that satisfies a 960 °C glow-wire test). They are robust and easily cleaned.
We make several ranges of lights with different light sources: LED, halogen, infrared and fluorescent.
In order to offer a variety of solutions that are adapted to everyone’s needs, all our lights can be fixed upon different mountings (find all our fittings on pages 22–23)

Three definitions to help you in choosing your lighting equipment :
- Lumen : the luminous intensity (intensity of the light flow) produced by a particular light source
- Watt : the amount of electrical power used
- Lux : Mesure la quantité de lumière reçue sur une surface définie et à une distance donnée
The ratio of the luminous intensity of a light source to the electrical power used to obtain the light, measured in lumens/Watt (lm/W) allows the efficiency of different lighting technologies, and different lamps to be compared.
Reference average values depending on the sources :
- Halogen +/- 15 lumens/Watt
- Fluorescent +/- 70 lumens/Watt
- LED +/- 140 lumens/Watt
LED are clearly more efficient.
Various technologies
The LED (140 lumens / Watt)
Due to their low energy usage, low heat output, good colour rendering, and exceptional luminous efficiency, LED lights have become the main form of artificial lighting in care units today. For our lights, we have selected high-performance LED (130–140 lumens/Watt) with colour temperatures (4500 Kelvin or “neutral white”) that are visually comfortable and do not alter tones under their light.
We do not use ordinary LED light bulbs, whose specifications render them inadequate for technical uses such as for surgery or dermatology. The LED we use are soldered onto a printed circuit board that is efficiently cooled by a heat sink. Like this a minimum working life of 50,000 hours, or around 25 years of intensive use is achievable.
The halogens (15 lumens Watts)
Halogen lamps offer one of the best colour renderings (IRC 100/100) of all light types, and good performance at a reasonable price. We equip our lights of this range with high-quality bulbs and keep plenty of replacements in stock.
The disadvantage of halogens is that they are more expensive to use and give off a lot of heat.
The fluorescents (80 lumens / Watt)
Fluorescent light sources emit a bright light that helps attention and concentration; They give off only a little heat.
Infrared
Thanks to a natural and safe process, infrared lamps or heating lamps are used in the industrial sector in heating, preheating, drying and hardening processes …

LID supplies different types of fitting to meet your needs.
